Scott E. Miller, Dow Corning Corporation Materials Reinforcement technical service representative and Surface & Interface Solution Center (SISC) team member, will present 揊iller Dispersion Aid for the Plastics and Rubber Industries?at Chinaplas 2007. Miller抯 presentation will review the dispersion mechanism, the effect of silane treatment of fillers, and the fundamentals of silane chemistry and filler treatment. The content is based on a technical paper co-authored with Pierre Chevalier, Laurence Stelandre, and Shawn Mealey, technical specialists from the Dow Corning SISC.揟he performance of reinforced polymers depends on the filler and the polymer-filler interaction at the interface,?Miller said. 揟herefore, the filler dispersion is critical.?BR> According to Miller, silanes are widely used as coupling agents and adhesion promoters, as well as dispersing aids for fillers. Dow Corning has developed a new dispersing aid with traditional alkoxysilane functionality. The properties and benefits of this new filler surface treatment will also be discussed. Miller抯 presentation will take place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, in Room 2A. Learn more about Dow Corning抯 silane technology, multifunctional silane dispersion aids, and the SISC by visiting Dow Corning抯 Chinaplas exhibit at booth 2D501. The Chinaplas conference, ?007: A New Era for Plastic Technologies Application (Electrical, Electronic, and Telecom Products),?will take place May 22-23, at the Shangri-la Hotel in Guangzhou, China. Scheduled concurrently with the conference is the Chinaplas 21st International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries, which takes place May 21-24, at the Chinese Export Commodities Fair Pazhou Complex, also in Guangzhou.
