　　1910-1919

　　Following the turn of the twentieth century, the 1910s was a decade that brought about great change for the world. During this revolutionary age in 1910, Henry Doherty created the Cities Service Company, one of the first corporations to supply gas and electricity for public utilities in the United States.

　　After World War I, the “Roaring 20s”ushered in a global economic boom. During this prosperous period in history, Cities Service discovered The Oklahoma City Pool—one of the largest and most productive oil fields of all time.

　　1930-1939

　　By the 1930s, traumatic post-war effects and the Great Depression spread rampantly across the globe. Bucking the trend in an era that symbolized great hardship, by1931 the Cities Service Company had grown to be a billion dollar corporation that employed 25,000 workers.

　　By the end of World War II, Cities Service oil tankers had delivered a total of 32 million barrels of oil to military forces around the globe. The postwar era of the 1940s was a time of new beginnings. Construction had also begun on the company’s Lake Charles facility, which would eventually become the fourth-largest refinery in the U.S.

　　Technological advances begun during World War II meant that the 1950s changed the way people lived. During this time, Cities Service began introducing new “super” service stations across the nation.

　　1960-1969

　　The 1960s was a turbulent period scarred by war; yet it also represented a time of new and vibrant cultural movements. In 1965, Cities Service unveiled its new marketing brand—CITGO. At the end of the decade in 1968, Cities Service moved its headquarters to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

　　1970-1979

　　In 1970s became widely known as a period of increased environmental awareness. In an effort to pursue environmentally friendly practices, Cities Service began refinery operation using a smokeless tip and contaminant recovery unit.

　　1980-1989

　　In 1980s encountered a booming global economy with periods of instability in the oil and gas industry. In 1986, Petroleos de Venezuela,S.A.(PDVSA),the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, purchased 50 percent of CITGO. And by the end of the decade, CITGO refineries began receiving more than half of their feedstocks from PDVSA—launching the beginning of an iconic brand that sprang as the number of CITGO service outlets spiked dramatically.

　　1990-1999

　　Following a brief recession in the early part of the decade, the 1990s was a time of economic prosperity throughout the world. In 1990, CITGO became wholly-owned by PDVSA, and the company expanded its facilities portfolio to include a refinery in Lemont, Illinois.

　　In 1995,Citgo introduced its brand oil into China, and “Sitgo” trade mark has been applied since then.

　　2000-2009

　　The new millennium marked several milestones for CITGO. In 2005, the company launched its flagship social responsibility initiative, the CITGO-Venezuelan Heating Oil Program. That same year, CITGO celebrated the 40-year anniversary of its brand. And we have sponsored auto racing games in China.
